FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What Types of Facial Surgeries Are Offered at Dr. Juan Hernando Santamaria’s Medical Office?

Our medical office provides a wide range of cosmetic procedures to enhance harmony and rejuvenate the facial appearance, including:

  • Facelift surgery which addresses signs of aging by tightening and lifting facial structures.
  • Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and facial fat around the eyes, resulting in a more youthful appearance.
  • Rhinoplasty is performed with a structural and preservation-focused approach to improve both aesthetics and function.

2. How Much is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty costs depend on several factors, including the type of procedure (combined, upper, or lower blepharoplasty), the surgeon’s location and experience, fees, anesthesia, and whether the procedure is performed for cosmetic or functional reasons, which may be covered by insurance.

3. What is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift is a less invasive cosmetic surgery procedure for patients with mild to moderate aging. It is an alternative to a full facelift, using shorter incisions to address signs of aging in the lower face and neck, with a focus on the jowls and jawline. It involves lifting underlying tissues and eliminating excess skin to provide a more youthful appearance.

4. SMAS vs. Deep Plane Facelift: What’s the Difference?

A SMAS facelift lifts the skin and the SMAS layer (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) as separate elements. It is a less invasive surgery with moderate results and potentially faster recovery. On the other hand, a deep plane facelift lifts the skin and the SMAS layer together as one component. This is a more invasive method that targets deeper structures for more noteworthy, longer-lasting, and natural-looking transformation, particularly for advanced sagging in the jowls, mid-face, and neck.

5. Is Rhinoplasty Permanent? Does Rhinoplasty Leave Permanent Scars?

Rhinoplasty is a permanent procedure, as the results will last you a lifetime. However, rhinoplasty scars are virtually imperceptible as the incisions are typically made on the underside of the nose. If any residual scars remain after healing is complete, you can easily conceal them with makeup. However, this is very rare.

6. How Long Does It Take to Recover from Rhinoplasty?

The recovery period varies for each individual, but most people can resume light work within a week and return to their normal activities after 4 to 6 weeks. However, complete recovery can take up to a year or even two, but significant swelling and bruising subsides by the six-week mark. However, the final results continue to improve over many months.

7. Are There Any Body Procedures Available?

Yes. Dr. Santamaria performs several body contouring procedures, such as breast augmentation or reduction, breast implant removal (explant surgery), and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Each treatment is tailored to meet the patient’s specific needs and expectations.

8. Does Dr. Santamaria Perform Reconstructive Surgery as Well as Cosmetic Surgery?

Absolutely. While he is well-known for aesthetic surgery, Dr. Santamaria is also certified in reconstructive surgery, helping patients restore both form and function after trauma, congenital conditions, or previous surgeries.
